College Grants I
Send to a friend | Printable Version Anyone who is looking for statistics about this issue finds the same answers: People with higher educational levels have higher earnings. More than this, people with no high education have fewer possibilities of well paid jobs. More and more students are realizing this fact, at the same time they are finding it difficult to pay for college, due to the increasing cost of a college education, which is rising steadily each year. That's why there is an important demand of College grants and Federal Government Grants, along with student loans to reach the possibility of having a good level of higher education. I think I'm not wrong affirming that especially during these difficult economic times graduate school grants are a necessity. Student's grants are student aid programs commonly supported by Federal and State governments' funds. With this type of grant, the student receives the money, and is not obligated to pay it back. The student who decides to apply for a grant must have some points in consideration. There are different types of grants and there are different conditions to obtain them. Types of grant programs: there are two general types of grant programs standing out for college students, need-based grants and merit-based grants. Need-based grants are intended to cover financial needs for people with economic troubles. Families who, having incomes below a set level, and have college-aged children can qualify for need-based grants. These grants are commonly obtained by students who otherwise wouldn't be able to attend college. That literally means, without this grant they can't afford studying. This grant is determined, then, by the financial need of the student. There is an application that has to be "honestly" filled out. Its name is Free Application For Federal Student Aid (F. A. F. S. A. ). The student has to inform many things such as income, the total amount of assets he owns, expected family's contribution, the student status, as well as other several items and any continuing academic requirements. The most common type of need-based grant is a grant funded by the Federal Government. There are several federal government grants programs. Some grants are funded by State Governments. Usually they do require the student to maintain an average GPA through college, such as a "C" average, which is perfectly possible if the student is really interested in studying. |
