Send to a friend | Printable Version " What to study?" this question may become a big, big problem. Sometimes it is really a difficult one to be answered. Today, as never before, there is an overwhelming and varied quantity of academic offerings at &#&Colleges and Universities&#&. That's why we can imagine how hard it may be for a student to decide which one to choose. Let's say that although there are so much different offerings, we are not talking about being a consumer. In this last case, the question may be what to buy, among a million of different possibilities. If our option was wrong because perhaps we haven't bought what we really needed, or it was much more expensive than we thought, it may annoy or bother us for a while. We are talking about a decision very important, accompanied by a feeling of "this is the moment when I decide about my whole life". You should give yourself space as a person to choose a process that will develop your own identity. To choose your career implicates to try and think calmly, to take a good time of reflection. This may be a moment of crisis, every day's life is changing quickly and perhaps you are feeling anguished. Of course it is a very important issue, it will involve a medium term life's project, but it is by no way a drama. First of all, to take a decision it is necessary to stop for a while and to plan and organize the &#&career search&#&: there is no question of running eagerly from one side to another. When you feel quiet and trusting a little in your own capacity, it is important to find out and learn, beyond the chat with friends or the few careers or work/profession roles you have in mind. To have a good approximation you may consult the career's guides, increasingly comprehensive, clear and easily accessible. Besides that, the &#&Universities and Colleges&#& have WEB pages where, in the first instance, you can consult; you can also attend to presentation meetings to obtain information about the different careers they offer. It is very useful to step on the real places and to know about the institutions in particular, there is nothing better to be able to choose than the direct experience and to analyze the impressions that arise: what you feel. |
